I met Rodney 35 years ago when he and my mom found one another. I always knew Rodney would care for my mother in a way no one had ever done so for her. Over the years he became a very huge part of our family. Rodney was one of the most gentle, caring and soft hearted men I believe I have ever known. He was even tempered, but was not one you would walk on. He took all our grandbabies in like they were his own, never denied them a Santa Claus Christmas. I loved this man like a father. He was a good friend, and great dad and like me, loved hunting. my heart still aches knowing he is gone, but I understand Gods will before mans,We miss you, love you and pray that one day we will get to hunt together again...God speed Rodney. Thank you, Gayle, for your loving and faithful care of Rod till death parted you. I told Jeremy, and his response was a gentle "OH". He loved to talk to you and Rod and when he did, he was always pumped up high as much as when he watched any Andy Griffith show. Rod was a thoughtful and kind person who loved to hunt, cook and make sure everyone was confortable for our Pow-Wows. It was never the same when he was no longer able to go on the Dove hunts. Every approaching bird and every shot was exciting with Rod there. Oh, man, could Rod talk about those garage sales he went to with Gayle. We were setting up his trailer in a field where we would hunt the nest day. He got out four small jacks to level up the trailer. And, yes, he got them at a garage sale - four for $4.00 - a steal!!!! You have to go early to get the best deals, Rod said. The other side of all these memories is that life is a vapor that appears for a short time, then vanishes away. Life is a story told individually. There are other things I think of about Rod. I never forget when he told us of a big outside pot he got for Gayle when coming home from hunting in Brownsville. They put it outside the house, and low and behold -- it melted! No one could keep from laughing when he told us. Gayle, the God of all comfort will comfort you and open paths for your feet to better days ahead. Love you, Luther, Alice and Jeremy

Growing up Rodney was very special to me. He was my cool cousin that took me to Dad and daughter activities at school. I had the youngest and coolest Dad. We even would win challenge games. He took me on dates with him and his girlfriends in his yellow mustang. I’m sure I was a pain. Thursday, July 5, 2018
