Doris Battise born September 4, 1926 to Jacob and Lizzie Robinson in Elton, Louisiana, went to be with her Lord on August 7, 2015 in Livingston, Texas at the age of 88 years.
Doris is survived by her children, Gladys Shutt & husband John, Jeanette Langley, Carol Whitworth & husband John, Claudine Hasting & husband Edward, Walter T. Celestine Jr. & wife Kathy and Wayne Battise; step daughter, Patricia Rhodes; 27 grandchildren including Howard Battise, Steve Wilkerson, and Angel Battise; 47 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and a host of dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Hollis and a son, Elward Celestine; four brothers; five sisters; stepchildren, Marilyn Battise and James Battise.
Doris was a member of the Indian Presbyterian Church and her favorite pass time was to make pine needle baskets.
A visitation will be held from 5pm till 9pm Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Pace Funeral Home.
A Celebration of her Life will begin on Monday, 10am August 10, 2015 at the Multi Purpose Complex 571 State Park Road 56 in the Alabama Coushatta Indian Reservation with Elder Debra Battise-Kleinman, CRE officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Wilkerson, Noah Wilkerson, Thomas “T.A.” Wier, Douglas Whitworth, Ashton Crabb, Jason Shutt, Jason Williams, Steven Clement Jr.; Honorary Pallbearers, Eric Whitworth and Austin Celestine.
