Dorcas Taylor Battise Bullock was born on February 20, 1920 in a log cabin on the Indian Reservation to McConico and Mabel Battise. She passed away on June 7, 2016. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Chief Kina Robert Fulton Battise and Benjamin Battise, and five sisters--Ivey Battise, Esther Battise, Eula Battise, Ninny Battise, and Louisa Mae Battise. She is survived by her three children; two daughters, Lawrine Lowe Battise of the Reservation, and Myrain Mavis Marroquin and husband, Joe Marroquin of Terrell, TX, and one son, Glendon Wayne Bullock and wife Genny of the Reservation. She has three nieces and one nephew. She has 14 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 48 great-great-grandchildren. And numerous four-legged grandchildren. She served as a cook for several generations at the Reservation Head Start program for 38 years. She was active with the Indian Presbyterian Church serving in the choir, teaching in the Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, with the Women of the Church, and as a deacon. She was the oldest living tribal member of the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Indian Presbyterian Church, Livingston, Texas. Her life celebration will be held on Saturday, June 11 at the Indian Presbyterian Church at 10:00am with Elder Debbie Kleinman officiating. . Interment will follow in the Indian Village Cemetery. Pallbearers are R. Keith Bullock, Derrick Battise, David Battise, Garrett Michael Battise, C.J. Marroquin, and Matthew Celestine
