Forrest "Bubba" Shrader
February 16, 1948 - June 28, 2017  

Forrest  "Bubba" Shrader, 69 years old, passed on June 28, 2017 in Livingston, TX.  He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Jean, two daughters; Leah Ross and partner Charlie, Tanya Castro and husband Teddy, one son; Forrest "Bo" Shrader, Jr. and wife Tracy, 7 beloved grandchildren; Courtney Ross, Jesse Ross, Brittaney Clipson, James "Bubba" Marshalek, Tanner Marshalek, Nate Castro, Ty Shrader, son-in-laws; Mark Ross, Bob Marshalek and three sisters; Carolyn Dulaney, Pauline Hammonds and Eunice Smith.  

With great sadness he was preceded in death by his dear friends, June Frnka and Salle Pence, both parents and 5 elder sisters - Lillian, Doris, Emily, Joyce, and Mary Blanche. 

Bubba was born on February 16, 1948 in Livingston to the late Edgar "Boots" and Hervey Lee (Kimball) Shrader. He was the youngest of 9 children and only son. 

Bubba grew up in Houston where he met and eventually married his teenage sweetheart, Jean Bartkovak, on July 14, 1966.  In August of '66 Bubba accepted a position with Production Operators Inc. (POI) and began his career in Oil and Gas.  After a number of work related transfers, Bubba moved his family to Rock Island, TX.  Shortly after, he started his own business - Forrest E. Shrader Company. He successfully ran his gas compressor business for almost two decades, retiring in 1998. Bubba and Jean also owned and operated Sandy Creek Drive-In in Sheridan, TX from 1986-2002. 

Bubba enjoyed the outdoors, especially deer hunting and fishing. He LIVED for his annual hunting trip to Colorado with close friends - Norman Hooper, Lonnie Owers, Harvey Speck and Leroy Owers.  His passion for hunting led him to New Mexico, Montana, Wyoming, "Old" Mexico and Canada. 

Bubba's life came full circle as he spent his last years living on Shraderville Rd. in Shepherd, TX. He discovered the internet, which entertained and amazed him. Big Foot and Blake Shelton, were popular searches. His humor and  charisma will never be forgotten..."Benita Benata" as he reached out to shake your  hand, favorite memory of his grandchildren. 

He often said, "In life, God gives you one good horse and one good dog....and I've had mine." Though he lost his  courageous battle with Cancer, he left on HIS terms -CONTENT with life and extremely PROUD of his family. 

Please join the Shrader Family to celebrate Bubba's life on Saturday, July 15, 2017, 1:00 pm at the gym in Rock Island.
