Thomas Mason Sylestine, born January 31, 1953 to Harry Rodman and Doris Josephine Sylestine in Livingston, Texas, passed away on December 25, 2017 in Austin, Texas at the age of 64 years.
Thomas attended Big Sandy School in Dallardsville, Texas, he also attended Pan American High School in Kingsville, Texas and graduated from Livingston, High School in 1971. He volunteered at the Indian Reservation Volunteer Fire Department. Thomas played for the Chief’s Softball Team the Texan Indians. He worked at the Tribal Enterprise and sat up movie sets for the Houston Studios. He also was a truck driver for Penske Truck Company.
He is survived by; sons, Trevor Colt Sylestine of Livingston, Texas, Brett Tyler Sylestine of Austin, Texas, Brandon Joseph Gerardi of Georgia; grandchildren, Rose Marie Sylestine of Livingston, Texas, Gabriel Sylestine of Livingston, Texas; companion, Jennifer Taylor of Austin, Texas; sisters, Joann Battise & husband, Arnold of Livingston, Texas, Carol Battise & husband, Donnis of Livingston, Texas; great aunt, Isabelle Celestine of Houston, Texas; and numerous other relatives and a host of friends
Thomas is preceded in death by his infant daughter, Coleen Battise; his parents; brothers, Terry Sylestine and Alton Lee Sylestine; sisters, Imogene Sylestine, Moree Poncho, and Denise Sylestine.
Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Multi-Purpose Center on Indian Reservation in Livingston, Texas. Celebration of Thomas’ life will be held on Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. with Elder Debra Battise-Kleinman CRE officiating.
