John Wayne Russell born on May 27, 1934 to John Floyd Russell and Tessie Mae Barley Russell in Lufkin, Texas, passed away on December 25, 2013 at the age of 79. John will be missed by his wife, Carol of 47 years son, John Brien Russell and wife Linda daughter, Darci Garrison and husband Rusty grandchildren, Mark Garrison, Michael Bourque, Lauren Garrison, Amy Garrison and Jeremy Garrison brothers, Carl Russell, Gene Russell and wife Patty, Roger Russell and wife Donna numerous other relatives and dear friends. John was a veteran in the United States Air Force having served one tour of duty during the Korean War. After he graduated from college, John became a Chemist and Technical Writer for Nasa, Raytheon, Goodyear and Fina Chemical Company in the Houston area for 42 years. He was a member of the Masons and American Legion. He served on the Texas Landing homeowners board, and was an officer on the Brookglen Subdivision water board in La Porte, Texas, where he also enjoyed playing Santa for several years. John belonged to the Texas Baptist Men Cabinet Crew working for the Lord. He loved to hunt and fish with his brothers, uncles, nephews, son and son in law. He and his wife have been in this community since 1999. John and Carol attend the Beacon Bay Baptist Church in Livingston, Texas. The family will greet friends at Pace Funeral Home, located at 200 FM 350 North in Livingston, Texas on Thursday, December 26, 2013 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A Remembrance Service will be held at Beacon Bay Baptist Church, located at 7249 FM 3126 in Livingston, Texas on Friday, December 27, 2013 with Pastor Harold Isaacs officiating.
