Verna Mae Schanfish Young also known as Sis was born on March 23, 1918 in Texarkana, Arkansas to parents Lizzie Lorena Hudson and Otto Augusta Schanfish. She went to be our angel on March 27, 2014 in Crockett, Texas at the age of 96 years and 4 days. She was preceded in death by husband of 47 years to J.W. Young sons, Harvey Joe, Leonard Charles and Jimmy Wayne one daughter Catherine Lynne Young Wilson three brothers, Dud, Pete, and twin brother Vernon Schanfish one grandson Anthony Charles Young. She is survived by daughter, Virginia Mae and husband Don Carroll of Austonio, Texas son L.B. Young of Leggett, Texas one brother, J.L. and wife Mazell Schanfish of Livingston, Texas son in law, Jimmy Carl Wilson of Oakhurst, Texas Sally Young Christoph of Denham Springs, Louisiana Eight grandchildren Eight great grandchildren and one greatgreat grandson numerous other nieces and nephews. She loved with no faults or reservations. She extended her love to everyone and never met a stranger. From picking cotton to hand sewing every quilt, she did everything with a tenderness, love, and passion. She provided for her family and never met anyone without a hug, a smile, and the most sincere Im glad I got to meet you. When she said goodbye, she embraced you, said she loved you and smiled the most genuine smile.
Visitation will be Saturday, March 29, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Pace Funeral Home located at 200 FM 350 North in Livingston, Texas. A Celebration of Verna Maes life will be held Sunday, March 30, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at Pace Funeral Home with Brother Tim Thompson officiating. Honorary pallbearer will be Joe Tilley.
