I am a Veteran.Douglas Deckard Douty
October 23, 1950 - May 10, 2014

Douglas Deckard Douty passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the age of 63 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He was born October 23, 1950 in Houston to Elmer and Mary Douty.
Douglas proudly served in the United States Navy from 19711975. He was an Eagle Scout and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He retired from ExxonMobil in 2007, serving 32 years in Baytown, TX and Baton Rouge, LA as a Research Technician. Soon after his retirement, he pursued a new adventure with his wife in hot shot delivery where they traveled across the US for two years. Douglas enjoyed saltwater fishing, making road trips especially to the hill country of Texas for his favorite barbque, and bragging on the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
After residing 20 years in Zachary, LA, Douglas returned to his beloved state of Texas to enjoy the tranquility at Lake Livingston in Onalaska. He marveled in the beauty of nature and loved to watch the many birds, squirrels, and deer as he sat on the back porch drinking his coffee.
Douglas accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior in 1978 and lived his life sharing and giving to others. His warm smile, sparkling eyes, and positive charm was immeasurable and everyone that knew him, knew that he loved them.
Survivors include his best friend and loving wife of fortytwo years, Martha Anderson Douty. They were married on October 1, 1971 in Kountze. He is also survived by two children, DaLina Tate and her husband Bobby Jr. of Zachary, and Dalin Douty and his wife Christina of Houston four sisters, Lola Steele, Nancy Jackson and husband John, Brenda Arceneaux, and Erin Douty two brothers, George Douty and wife Letty, and Larry Douty and wife Nedra six grandchildren, Bobby Trey Tate III, Shelby Tate, Karlee Tate, Ian Carr, Jared Carr, Chyann Douty and Leesi Philson one greatgrandchild, Beau Tate and numerous other relatives and a host of friends. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Mary Douty.
