Benny Griffin of Big Sandy, Texas, age 87, left this world on May 14, 2016. He was born in Daisetta, Texas to Vol and Elma Griffin. He graduated from Big Sandy High School and moved to Clute, Texas where he lived for the next 20 years working for Dow Chemical Company. He was a Journeyman Electrician and a member of IBEW Local 716. His dream to return to East Texas was realized in 1969, when he moved back to his original family home place in Big Sandy. He has spent the next 56 years living on his ranch, helping raise his two grandsons, caring for his cattle and loving his many dogs including his current dog Bell. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dorothy Griffin; daughter Dr. Alexia Griffin Green and son-in law Robert Green of Ransom Canyon Texas; two grandsons, Volney Griffin Jr. of Livingston and Shawn Griffin of Big Sandy; a daughter by marriage, Laneigh Harkness of Livingston; and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his only son Volney Griffin, who died in 1988. No funeral or burial service will be held as a celebration of his life was held at his bedside prior to his death. He will interned at the Big Sandy cemetery joining his son Volney.
