Aletha Wheeler, born October 2, 1918 to Evan and Ida Johnson Andress in Onalaska, Texas, went to be with her Lord, July 6, 2016, in Palestine, Texas, at the age 97 years.
One of her favorite things to do was sitting on her front porch watching the world change before her; from the cotton fields turning into Lake Livingston, dirt roads to pave roads, and watching a small community turn into a town.
Aletha’s loving family includes; daughters, Maxine Hodge, Marjoria Tipton; grandchildren, James Tipton, Sammie Camacho, Charlotte Moser, Autis Tipton, Benny Hodge, Sandra Halford, Helen Perales, Lesia Farmer, Darla Redwine, Douglas Hodge; 34 great grandchildren, 25 great-great grandchildren and numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mack Wheeler, daughters, Melba Hodge, Peggy Jean Wheeler; brothers, Alvin Andress, Herman Andress; grandchildren, Mack Tipton, Raymond Hodge, and George Hodge, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Pace Funeral Home in Livingston, Texas. Celebration of Aletha’s life will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Pace Funeral Home in Livingston with Dr. Steve Hays and Pastor Rick Tate officiating.
