I am a Veteran.Archie Leroy Langley
September 1, 1936 - July 19, 2016

Archie Leroy Langley, known as Leroy, was born in Pine Knot Community, Burkeville, Newton County, Texas. He was born September 1, 1936 to Archie Langley and Annie Lou Cloessner Langley. Leroy, went to be with his Lord on July 19, 2016 in Livingston, TX
Leroy retired from Champion International Paper Company in September of 1998. Leroy was a motor grader operator. He started out with Lutchin Moore,
merged to Southland Paper Company, then merged to St. Regis Paper Company, and finally merged to Champion Paper. He survived 3 merges. One of his Bosses
once said, "Leroy was the only operator that when you told him to grade such and such or fix so and so, you could depend on it being done right." Leroy had a passion for machinery.
He served in the United States Army. While in the army he was trained to operate various pieces of equipment, the dragline, dozer, backhoe, and motor grader. His favorite piece of equipment was the road grader. While in the Army he was stationed at Fort Sill, Oklahoma near Lawton, Oklahoma. He helped build all the roads and shooting ranges at Fort Sill. He received his honorable discharge the day before the United States entered the Korean Conflict.
Leroy loved hunting and fishing. He spent many hours in the woods hunting deer and squirrel. He was a very avid hunter and taught his boys to follow in his footsteps. Opening day of deer season was always a time of excitement. The contest was on as to who killed the first deer, who killed the biggest deer, and who could tell the best deer hunting story. All that was followed by a big dinner for everyone. Many memories of opening day with Leroy, Paw Rosier, Robert Rosier, Jimmy and Neal Glenn, and the Langley boys.
Leroy was an active member of the Big Sandy Baptist Church. He never missed a church service until his health prohibited him from attending. He sang in the choir and was a member of the men's trio. He loved to sing base and enjoyed being part of several singing groups in the church. His favorite songs were, "Just a Little Talk with Jesus" and "Thanks to Calvary."
He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother, Archie Langley and Annie Lou Cloessner Langley; son, Charles Ray Langley; sister, Buna Stelly; brother-in-law, Tommy Bishop.
