Charles W. Holmes, age 95, went home to be with the Lord on September 13, 2018, in Livingston, Texas. Charlie was born May 15, 1923 and grew up in Texarkana, Arkansas. After graduation, Charlie joined the United States Air Force and proudly served until 1945. In 1947, Charlie married June Rose Hargrave, who died in 1996. Charlie and June had one daughter, Sherry Holmes Terry, who passed away in 2017. Charlie was retired Plumbing supply salesman and his territory covered many states. He made his home in Houston until he retired and moved to Trinity County. Charlie loved to watch sports, fish and to play his harmonica. In 2010 Charlie moved into Tall Pines Assisted Living in Livingston, Texas and was proud to say he was the first resident upon their opening. By 2014 Charlie’s health had declined and moved into Pine Ridge Healthcare and Rehab in Livingston. Charlie is survived by friends: Bruce and Bobbie Ott, Rod and Tamra Zeigler, John and Velma Van Lieshout. Charlie was blessed to have received wonderful care in both homes and felt the staff were his family. A special thanks to the staff at Tall Pines and Pine Ridge Healthcare, especially his nurse, Tammy Wiggins, LVN. Also, Charlie received compassionate care from the staff at Kindred Hospice: Denise Nellsch, RN, Veronica Thomas, Rachel Clamon, RN, Jessica Miller, RN and Jack Redfearn, Chaplain. At Charlie’s request, there will be no service. |
