Jo Ann Gerald was promoted to Heaven on Friday August, 24, 2012. After a courageously fought battle with cancer, she passed peacefully at her home in Livingston surrounded by her family. Jo Ann worked numerous years for Santa Fe ISD finishing her years there as a Substitute Teacher and Office Worker. Service is a word that certainly describes Jo Ann and no age was safe from her She taught Sunday School to Kindergartners in her church for several years. For over 20 years in the spring time you could find Jo Ann involved in the Galveston County Fair Rodeo involved in numerous activities including heading up Senior Citizens Day. For many years she impacted the lives of hundreds of teenagers while working with her own children as a coach. She also was a swim instructor, childcare provider, and a den mother in cub scouts, and was Queen Mother in her chapter of Red Hats. Jo Anns greatest joys were her 17 grandchildren.

Jo Ann lived in Texas City, TX all of her childhood, moved to Louisiana after getting married, and settled in Santa Fe most of her adult life before moving to Livingston in 2008. She is survived by Glen, her loving husband of 48 years, her brother John DuRee and his wife Mary Lou, brotherinlaw Kenneth Gerald and his wife Sue, her uncle Albert DuRee and his wife Marilyn, her four children including Mark Gerald and his wife Michelle, Kelli Hardcastle and her husband Lance, Robert Gerald and his wife Brenda, Matt Gerald and his wife Jenifer. She will also be missed by her 17 grandchildren, one greatgrandchild, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and treasured friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Shirley DuRee.

A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday September 1, 2012 at 10:30am at the Pace Funeral Home in Livingston, TX. Following the service, you are invited to attend a fellowship luncheon at the Geralds home.
