Bobby Gene “Bob” White (92) born in Hinton, Oklahoma. At age 8, he and his family moved to Gainesville, Texas, and that’s where he developed a love for horses as he helped local farmers work their cattle. When he was 17, he volunteered for the Navy, however, was turned down due to a medical problem. The recruiter later came back to him, and the Navy paid for his surgery, and he then served our country for 4 years, under Harry Truman. After discharge he went to Houston and worked various jobs such as a butcher, the paper plant, road construction and truck driving. He still loved horses and rodeos, so he bought his first horse named “Sleepy” during this time. In 1963, Bob married the love of his life, Mary Lea and he began to raise her children, Joey and Rolayne as his own, then in 1964 their son Bobby was born. He continued to drive trucks and eventually formed Bob White & Sons Trucking which he retired from in 1995. Bob and Mary Lea then moved to Goodrich and life began to slow down. He was then able to enjoy quiet evenings with her and spend more time in the kitchen cooking for his growing family, which is now 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren that love him and will dearly miss him. A visitation will be held from 11:00am-11:45am at Pace Funeral Home. A Mass will begin at 12:00pm at St Joseph Catholic Church Saturday, June 24, 2023, with FR. Bartlomiej (Bart) Jasilek, SVD officiating.
