Jorge Antonio Ramos went to be with his Lord on Sept. 26, 2023. Born May 28, 1955, in Sapucaia, Estado Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Jorge lost his battle to end stage heart failure and wore a life vest for a year. Oxygen 24/7. Had hip replacement issues that couldn't be addressed because of his heart. He broke his countries' records in Track and Field. Beginning training with Ana Lucia's studio of dance, he received the gold concourse in Rio for Ballet. Invited to come to Ft. Worth SW Ballet, he came to the United States. Dancing also for TCU, he was offered a contract with Chattanooga Ballet. He danced for 9 years there and worked as an Executive Chef with fine dining and the University of Tennessee. Jorge came to work for Memorial Hospital in Lufkin in 1998 as an Exec. Chef and resided in Huntington for 25 years. He was President of the Deep East TX Chapter of the TCA; he worked diligently raising money for all departments at HHS. Food was donated from Food Service companies, Jorge cooked meals and created ice carvings for the previous year’s Prom party, at the Salvation Army he worked alongside Brookshire Brothers to cook the Thanksgiving meal for many years. Jorge enjoyed mentoring young Chefs at LHS, he took many under his wing to further their careers. HMS had a program to educate the children with foods of the world event; Jorge loved to cook Brazilian cuisine. If someone needed appliances or furniture, he provided; Jorge was a loving and generous soul. Jorge was raised Catholic, he attended Presbyterian church with his wife in Chattanooga and Lufkin until his illness. He helped his wife for 27 years raising Registered Appaloosas; imprinting the babies, training, and chauffeuring them to vets for all those years. Jorge is preceded in death by his parents Jose and Ina Martins Bastos Ramos, father, and mother- in-law, Willis and Dorothy Cole, brother-in-law Ray Cole. He is survived by his family in Brazil; sister, Jussara Ramos; brothers, Jose, Jairo, Jael, and Juarez; wife, Carol Cole-Ramos; son, Patrick Cole Ramos; brothers-in-law, Stan, and David Cole; sisters-in-law, Sue, Elaine, and Glenda Cole. Carol would like to thank everyone who has reached out during this extremely difficult time, it has meant the world to her. Services will be held at First Presbyterian on Jane-Way in Lufkin at 11 A.M., Saturday, October 21, 2023. The family request your attendance at a reception to follow.
