Thomas Joseph Ames was born May 14, 1947, to Arvin John Ames and Glendola "Dolly" Marie (Bolander) Ames, in Dallas, Texas. Tom went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 16, 2024, in Livingston, Texas at the age of 77.
Tom graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a highly respected employee in the oil industry for over forty years. Tom was a skilled craftsman and he put himself through college doing carpentry, a long-lost American tradition. He was one of the founding members of EOT, a group of oilfield colleagues, who met every other Tuesday for libations and storytelling.
Tom had a generous heart and a great sense of humor and a quick wit. He will be missed by many. Tom is survived by his loving wife, Marie Grace De Le Vingne; children: Christopher John Ames and his wife, Jenna; Chantal Grace Dybala and her husband, Curtis; sisters: Joan Ames Hewlett and her husband, Clyde; Carol Ames Waters; grandchildren: Jordan, Ethan, Jace, Cora and Grant; as well as many other loved ones and a host of friends.
Tom is preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation for Tom will be on Sunday, July 21, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a rosary to begin at 7:00 p.m., at Pace Funeral Home, in Livingston, Texas.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday July 22, 2024, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, in Livingston, Texas, with Fr. Paul Kahan, SVD officiating, and Deacon Gregory Mouton assisting.
Interment is to follow at Forest Hill Cemetery, in Livingston, Texas.
