Mr. Adams was born on December 10, 1934, in Kenedy, Texas, to parents, Joe and Arie Collins Adams, and gained his wings on January 29, 2025, in Pasadena, Texas.
His early years were spent with his grandparents, H. O. & Cora Bell Adams, being raised on a farm in Flint, Texas. His teenage years were spent in Houston, Texas with his mother running twin boarding houses, side-by-side on Leeland St. He loved recounting stories from his experiences on the farm and at the boarding houses. He was an Iron Worker in Local 84, a skilled carpenter and cabinet maker, remodeling homes and building his own home. Floyd was an avid musician, always playing by ear, singer and songwriter, a leader and a member of various bands around the Houston Area. Following his retirement, Floyd combined his passion for music with his faith and could be found playing his guitar and singing with the other church musicians on Sunday mornings. One of his proudest accomplishments was copyrighting two songs, co-written with Aliene Adams. He shared his love of music by teaching and encouraging aspiring guitar players. Floyd was a Scoutmaster in Boy Scout Troop 501, an impassioned vocal fan of the Houston Oilers/Texans, gardener, self-taught naturalist with a love of plants & trees, hunter and fisherman. Floyd was a loving husband, father and grandfather who enjoyed spending time with his family, preferably outdoors.
